El Escuerzo

Set in 1865 Argentina, in an isolated and hostile place in the sierras, the military takes a young gaucho against his will to fight in a distant war. His younger brother, Venancio, a clumsy, shy and fearful adolescent, has the responsibility of traveling to the nearest post to get supplies for himself, his mother and his neighbors. Before leaving on his journey, Venancio kills a horned frog, and his mother Antonia tells him a local legend that predicts that if he does not burn the corpse, the animal will resurrect and torment him to death. Venancio's struggle to overcome the curse takes him to different places and confronts him with different characters.
