When a young filmmaker returns home to delve into her grandmother's past, with a camera and microphone in hand, questions about her own future unexpectedly arise. "A Story About My Grandmother" is a poetic documentary that explores the ways in which we make sense of our past; how a doubt or decision or coincidence leads to our present situation; how a first date becomes a relationship, or a family, even a whole genealogy. The film also doubles as a loving portrait of Rosa Sørensen - a stubborn, independent, and warm but brutally honest woman - which is seen through the eyes of her granddaughter, Grit. A young women becoming of age, whose questions about mortality lead her to rethink the fast pace of her generations' existence. As the film unfolds, we see not one portrait but two as grandmother and granddaughter mirror one another in a twin tale of struggle, love, truth and determination that each of us can relate to.
