They Call Me Superman (2021)

This documentary series will reveal the life of Manuel Jimenez, who many would consider to be one of the most unique boxing coaches in the world. He makes extraordinary efforts to positively influence his team of boxers, whose lives he puts before his own. We will be following three boxers, each uniquely challenged, as they expose their lives, struggles and aspirations in their quest to become champions. Throughout the series, we will be telling Manuel's unimaginable life story in parallel with the stories of his boxers' journeys. Manuel uses his disturbing and challenging experiences of his past to help his boxers today. Manuel is a coach at Wild Card, the world-famous boxing gym located in Los Angeles, CA. He is an unsung hero, who has made an oath within himself to help change as many boxers lives as he can before he dies. He is known to turn away no one - money or not. In this documentary, we will watch Manuel in action, coaching his amateur athletes unlike any other. We will be exposed to his current lifestyle and with the most important peoples in his life - his boxers. The series will take us further into the success, struggles and failures of three of his boxers whose dreams of becoming pro are in hands of themselves and their coach. Each boxer has a unique relationship with Manuel because he can relate with the many hard struggles they are trying to push through.
