About transidentity in Sweden. The German physician and sexologist Magnus Hirschfeld coined the word transvestite in 1910, from Latin trans-, "across, over" and vestitus, "dressed", to refer to the sexual interest in cross-dressing. Eva-Lisa Bengtsson was on the outside a working family man. In her solitude, wearing a skirt, she was the woman Eva-Lisa. At a time when society viewed transgender people as perversions, she started Sweden's first movement for transgender people.
