In a country that sees abortion as an absolute abomination, in a bleak desert town, a young woman named Mowanza finds out that she's 12 weeks pregnant after being raped by a man who offered her a ride. Despite Mowanza wants to abort the child, her attempts are ill-fated. Upon learning about a nearby nation called "Iropus" and its lenient policy on abortion, Mowanza embarks on her journey with her beat-down car. Under the scorching sun, on her way to Iropus, Mowanza encounters a Nun and god's followers who attempt to stop her from going to the sinful place they believe is Iropus. Mowanza experiences momentary love and ever-lasting grief with Mavis, a woman who is trapped between domestic violence, a grim life, and her desire for Iropus. Mowanza tastes a sliver of healing and warmth when she meets Millie, a little girl abandoned by her parents on the side of the road. Yet, Mowanza finds herself on the journey alone.
