This film is above all a journey. From Brooklyn to Abidjan, passing through Mississippi, Puerto Rico and Haiti. A journey about the search for the identity of the most famous contemporary African-American artist and one of the most relevant painters of the 20th century, Jean-Michel Basquiat. However, it becomes a paradoxical journey, because despite his Haitian and Puerto Rican roots, Basquiat barely explored the African continent. However, he never stopped dreaming about it, transcending his "cultural memory" to produce iconic works. Too little is said: although the painter anticipated the globalization of art like no other, he, above all, confronted an America plagued by racism.
