In 1939 18 year old Halvor Skramstad gets hire as a sailor on the cargo ship M/S Tomar. Germany has not yet occupied Norway, but the war has started in Europe. Halvor sets out on the adventure of his life, knowing little about what awaits him; of convoy, shipwreck, loss of mates, love, jealousy and longing.
