In the 80s, 3 iconic film makers - Saeed Mirza, Kundan Shah and Aziz Mirza got together and created magic on India's national TV - Doordarshan. As a result of their creative brainstorming, Nukkad was born. The memorable series of the 80s evokes nostalgia for an entire generation that grew up adoring the series. The series was different as the indelible characters were an eclectic mix of lower-middle class and the marginalized. Each of these characters had a distinct personality, want and aspiration and the stories were human and real. In this 17 part series of 6-14 mins. duration each, Saeed Mirza shares his thought process behind the series, the inspiration behind the indelible characters, the anecdotes, the plurality and the idea of India, the bloopers, the skeptics and the lovers of the program. And how one program captured the imagination and raised the conscience of an entire nation. Given the times, Nukkad's intrinsic message remains ever more important of unity in diversity. The series aims to keep this core communication alive through Saeed's sharing.
