The history of the Old and the New testament, starting from Abraham, with flash-backs to the creation of the world, is told through paintings and sculptures, but also by showing the viewer the landscapes where the facts reported in the Holy Bible took place. Three great figures exemplifying modern Western charity are the highlighted: Francis of Assisi, Joan of Arc, Charles de Foucault. The film closes examining the notion of the permanence of Christianity
